Cheteshwar Pujara believes the WTC final will be huge for India

India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara is considered as one of the best players in India’s Test cricket history with 6244 runs in 85 matches in his name which came at an average of 46.59 including 18 centuries as well. He has just played 5 ODIs for the country and never played in the T20I format.

On the other hand, Pujara would be returning to the IPL after a gap of seven years and will be playing under the leadership of MS Dhoni in Chennai Super Kings this season as well.

In an exclusive chat with Moneycontrol, Pujara says that he was excited to get back in IPL and also how important is it to be qualified for the final of the World Test Championship in England in June this year where they will take on New Zealand. However, Pujara said that he was grateful to the CSK management for giving him the chance in the 2021 IPL as CSK bought him for INR 50 lakh in the mini-auction in February as well.

“First of all, I would like to thank the CSK team and management for putting faith in me. CSK has a great record and we all know about that. I will try to learn a lot from the team and will also get guidance from them,” he said.

Pujara further added that he was looking forward to play under the captain MS Dhoni who understood his game and also his strengths and weaknesses too as they both had played for India in the longer format.

“It is a very significant factor. Mahi bhai is one of the most experienced players. I don’t have to add anything about his stature as an iconic captain but yes it does help as he knows a lot about my strength and game. He will try to get the best out of everyone,” he again shared.

IPL 2021 is all set to begin next month.
