Impressed Michael Vaughan applauds debutant Prasidh Krishna

 

Prasidh Krishna had a stunning debut for India in the ODI series opener against England where he had the figures of 4/54. With this, he registered the best figures by an Indian on debut. Despite having a poor first spell, he came back strongly and gave India the breakthrough in the first place when he removed Jason Roy.

Later, he took three more scalps as well. And, his debut impressed everyone, including the former England captain Michael Vaughan who has come out and applauded this young cricketer. He also pointed out the role of Rahul Dravid in his success as well.

“Whatever India is doing behind the scenes, I know we keep mentioning the IPL but I think Rahul Dravid with his A-side and development program is clearly installing the right mentality in his players. All these players are being brought through the system into the international India team which is a huge pressure cooker. Full credit to the system that India have produced, they are getting it absolutely right,” Vaughan said to Cricbuzz.

He further applauded the way Krishna bounced back after conceding many runs initially. Apart from his 4-wicket haul, Shardul Thakur claimed three scalps and the pace spearhead Bhuvneshwar Kumar also picked up two wickets in India’s 66-run win over England as well.

“A young debutant with great character. To bounce back the way that he did today just shows that he is made of the right stuff. That’s why these kinds of bowlers are picked in white-ball cricket. They may go for a few runs, but they get wickets. They unsettle the batting unit. They bowl a few short bowls at a decent pace. Every now and then they get wickets with poor balls because the batters think they can crash them to the boundary at a regular occurrence,” Vaughan concluded.

Amit Mishra shares his thoughts on spin bowling

  India has produced a good number of quality spinners throughout the year but there are very few wrist spinners available and Amit Mishra is one of them.
