Cheteshwar Pujara opens up on Hanuma Vihari’s missed IPL season
Cheteshwar
Pujara is all set to return in action in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League where he will be seen in yellow jersey under MS Dhoni’s leadership.
However, Pujara is known as a Test specialist and he recently opened up on
another Test batsman Hanuma Vihari, who failed to get a team in IPL.
“The only
guy missing out at this stage is Hanuma Vihari. I feel for him. He was
previously part of the IPL. I feel that he should also be part of the IPL. I’m
really pleased that what I’ve done for the Indian team is noticed and I got
results for that. I was told when I was picked, all the franchises clapped in
the auction room. I feel that when you are doing something for the Indian team,
people love it; they know the value I bring in. Not just the franchises, almost
all my India team-mates were really happy for me. Last few years I’m the only one
who has been missing out on playing in the IPL from the Indian team,” Pujara
told ESPNCricinfo.

Pujara is
returning in the shortest format after a long time and this format needs a bit
of change in batting as well as approach. And, the Test specialist was worried
that it may affect his batting in the longer format too. However, he is over
that and he has realised over a period of time that his natural game is his
strengths and it will never go away as well.
However, Pujara was grateful to former batting legend Rahul Dravid for his advice as he told Pujara that his natural game and core will not change even if he plays different shots in the shortest format of cricket as well. Chennai Super Kings will begin their campaign against Delhi Capitals on April 10.
