Parthiv Patel names the X-factor of Delhi Capitals - Rishabh Pant
Former
Indian wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel has named Rishabh Pant as his
ex-factor from Delhi Capitals for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. When he was asked to name that one special player from
the Delhi franchise, he named Pant solely based on his stunning batting form.
While
speaking exclusively on Star Sports’ shows GAME PLAN, former Team India player
said: “I think Rishabh Pant. Because if he wasn’t in his best of form last
season, this year the way he has batted for India, I think he carries a lot of
confidence with him and that’s what you want when you are playing a T20 game. ”
People
often compare Pant to former India captain MS Dhoni, whose brilliance behind
the stumps is well known. However, Parthiv believes this will only hamper the
yougster’s career
“You don’t
want any doubts in your mind and especially a player like Rishabh Pant. He was
burdened with the comparison of MS Dhoni and he also tried to do that, but he
himself is brilliant player. He doesn’t have to worry about being like MS
Dhoni. He can be better than MS Dhoni or he can win matches on his own every
given time. So, I think Rishabh Pant will be probably holding the key for Delhi
Capitals.”
Meanwhile,
the Delhi Capitals team has already reached Mumbai and has been going through
the mandatory period as well. Some of them have started practising too after
finishing the quarantine. They will begin their journey in the IPL 2021 by playing
against MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings on April 10 as well.
However,
Delhi got a massive blow as their captain Shreyas Iyer had dislocated his
shoulder during the 1st ODI against England and has been ruled out of the
entire IPL. In his absence, young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant will lead
the team and Delhi Capitals’ head coach Ricky Ponting backed him as well.
