R Ashwin backs Delhi Capitals to win the IPL 2021

 


India’s experienced spinner Ravi Ashwin, who is playing for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the cash-rich T20 league – Indian Premier League, named the defending champions Mumbai Indians as the team to beat in the tournament, although he said that every IPL team is strong and will give a tough competition, he believes that Mumbai have a more strong and experienced squad as compared to others.

“Every team is strong, and I am not making a diplomatic statement. But I definitely think Mumbai has got a powerful and experienced squad. Mumbai will always start as favorites in this competition. I think Mumbai is the team to beat,” Ashwin told the New Indian Express. Powered by Unibots & Doto

The 13th edition of the T20 League had played in the United Arab Emirates which saw the Capitals reaching the final for the very first time in the history of the league. But, they failed to win after losing against Mumbai. However, one of the major reasons was the poor performance of their batting unit.

The veteran off-spinner is hopeful for this season as he reckoned that the team has a good chance as the batting unit, especially Rishabh Pant, the new captain is in a good form this year. “Good (On DC’s chances), well-balanced one. Last year, our batting did not come well together. It was understandable due to lockdown and all that. But this year, in the kind of form in which Rishabh is, definitely that (team’s batting) also will get sorted out,” he said.

“We have a good chance. But if you see the last few years, it is not always about the top two or three sides. Every team picks players judiciously and has good balance and options. The IPL is in a new caravan model, so conditions also will play a part,” Ashwin concluded.

Amit Mishra shares his thoughts on spin bowling

  India has produced a good number of quality spinners throughout the year but there are very few wrist spinners available and Amit Mishra is one of them.
