Chris Morris opens up after RR victory
Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Chris
Morris has recently said that he hopes the Indian Premier League (IPL)
2021 can bring a little bit of joy among people amid the crunch time of
global pandemic novel COVID-19 whose second wave has been affecting people
severely.
Morris also applauded the frontline
workers here and all around the world for their effort amid this time that they
are doing by saving people's lives and every other way possible.
"As a team we have been talking
over the last couple of days about how this coronavirus pandemic has taken over
specific parts, if not all of India. As a team we just want to say, there are
heroes out there the frontline workers have been incredible. For them to be
doing, day in and day out for 24 hours a day is just incredible," Morris
said after RR secured a 6-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders in Match 18 on
Saturday.
Chris Morris, who was adjudged Player of
the Match for his 4-wicket haul against KKR, hoped that their win brought a bit
of joy in people's lives in these difficult times as well.
"As a team we are feeling the hurt
for everyone around the world. It's quite difficult to comprehend what's
happening. It is a responsibility for us to play with smiles on our faces
because we have got a reason to smile. We get to play the sport that we love
and we get to keep people happy on the other side of the screen,” he added.
"Whether we are winning or losing
its still an opportunity to keep people happy and smiling and watching cricket.
If that brings people joy, even if it's a little bit of joy, then we are doing
well as a sport. At Rajasthan we will be supporting COVID workers and all those
affected," Morris concluded.
