Cricket Latest News - Chetan Sakariya lost his father to COVID-19

 

Rajasthan Royals’ young and rookie pace bowler Chetan Sakariya has come in the news in the recently-suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) with his stunning show with the ball. However, he faced a huge loss recently in real life as he has lost his father Kanjibhai Sakariya due to the global pandemic novel COVID-19 at a private hospital in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar.

According to the report, it happened after a day the pacer visited his father at the hospital. His father, who was a tempo driver, was on the ventilator after his health deteriorated recently. To cure his father, he transferred his IPL salary to his family after he had received the call last week about the illness of his father.

Meanwhile, the young pacer has lost his brother Rahul, who committed suicide just before the mini-auction of IPL 2021 as well.

“I was lucky because I had received my part payment from Rajasthan Royals a few days ago. I straight away transferred money back home, and that is helping my family the most in my toughest time,” Sakariya told The Indian Express.

After returning from the now-suspended IPL 2021, Chetan Sakariya spends most of his time at the hospital with his father, who was a diabetic patient as well. However, Sakariya expected that the remaining games of the cash-rich league to take place soon as he wanted to see his father recover soon and he also wants to build a new house for his family.

“I am the only member in my community who has earned so much. My mother doesn’t know how many zeros are there in crores. Our first priority is to see my father back and then build that home. For that, IPL should happen,” Chetan Sakariya concluded.

Chetan Sakariya came in the limelight with his ability to take big wickets at crucial moments in the game. The young left-arm pacer has already impressed the cricket fraternity with his variations and discipline for the Royals as well.

Rajasthan Royals bought him for Rs 1.2 crore at the mini-auction of IPL 2021 and he is grateful for the money that he got after playing in IPL as the pacer, who does not have a central contract, said that the money is currently helping him financially to take care of his family.
