Trent Boult Prepares For England Tests

Veteran New Zealand pace bowler Trent Boult, who will lead the pace attack for his team, has ended his mandatory isolation period in New Zealand after returning from the Indian Premier League (IPL) and he will bowl for a week in Mount Maunganui before leaving for England to join his teammates as well.

Notably, New Zealand will first take on England for a two-match Tests series next month and then they will play the much-awaited inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) final against India as well within a space of three weeks as well.

Trent Boult, who did not travel to Maldives from India like his national teammates Kane Williamson, Mitchell Santner and Kyle Jamieson did, will miss the first Test against England but he will be featured in the second Test which will be beginning June 10 as well. And, his absence will give an opportunity to the left-arm pacer Neil Wagner to play alongside Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson as well.

“One of the things that I’ve been doing since we’ve been restricted to our rooms for these first few days is planning out each bowler’s preparation,” New Zealand coach bowling coach Shane Jurgensen told reporters.

“With Trent, he’s been bowling away in isolation, albeit in his hotel room – I’ve received the odd Snapchat of him bowling, so he has been – then he’s going to go to Bay Oval (Mount Maunganui) under the marquee there and have a few overs specifically in terms of preparing for Test cricket, and then he’ll be over here,” Jurgensen further added.

New Zealand has a variety of pace bowlers where Trent Boult is one of the best left-arm pacers in along with Wagner. Apart from them, Doug Bracewell and Matt Henry are the other two pace bowling options available in the squad as well.

Meanwhile, Team India is all set to tour England next month for the upcoming inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand and then they will play a five-match Test series against England as well.
