Cricket Australia Confirms Participation of Players in Phase 2 IPL 2021

As the second phase of the Indian Premier League 2021 will resume in the United Arab Emirates in September, a positive development came as five players from Australia will participate in the league as well. The matches will play host to the second phase of IPL 2021, with Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi being the three hosts as well.

While the news came that the overseas cricketers won’t be taking part in the second phase of the IPL 2021 owing to their international commitments, this news certainly brought the relief to every franchise as well.

However, Cricket Australia (CA) has decided to allow 5 players to participate in the IPL. According to a report in The Telegraph, Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Glenn Maxwell, and Chris Lynn have confirmed their participation in the IPL. Stoinis and Smith are a part of the Delhi Capitals squad whereas Nathan Coulter-Nile and Chris Lynn are a part of the two-time defending champions Mumbai Indians team as well.

On the other hand, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell can be seen playing for the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. Maxwell was in sublime form during the earlier part of the IPL 2021 as well.

Moreover, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked all the franchises to make sure that all their members are fully vaccinated before they reach UAE to tae part in the league as well. And, with this, the chances will be less to get affected by the COVID-19.

Describing the same one of the sources in ANI said, “We have been told that all those traveling should have completed taking both the doses of vaccination so that there is no problem once teams reach UAE.”

Notably, the T20 World Cup will also take part in the same venues soon after the IPL 2021 ends.
