Dilip Vengsarkar wants R Ashwin back for limited-overs cricket
Although the Indian Cricket Team has plenty of options when it comes to players, the Indian spinners failed to live up to the expectations in the recently-concluded ODI series against England at home. In the second ODI against England, Kuldeep Yadav and Krunal Pandya ended up conceding 156 runs in 16 overs that cost India the game, as England chased down 337 with six wickets and 39 balls in hand as well. After seeing this, former India chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar expressed his thoughts. While there are not many experienced players left in the team, and not too many around in the domestic circuit, he wants the experienced R Ashwin back in the limited-overs circuit, and further added that if he was the selector of the Indian cricket team right now, he would have done it as well. “If I were the chief selector (now), I would have brought Ashwin back (to the white ball set-up).
